2014 Stakes Race Syrah, Walla Walla Valley
Now SOLD OUT. Our first 100% Walla Walla Valley AVA Syrah blend from Les Collines and Patina vineyards.
Outstanding!, Great Northwest Wine (November 2016)
Tasting notes
This savory and complex blend of 100% Syrah spent 18 months in both neutral and new French oak. Right out of the gate come alluring aromas of blackberry jam, smoked meat and dark chocolate backed by toast, cedar and spice. Turning for home and spilling into the mouth are boysenberry, fig, tar and gamey meaty smoke. Dusty tannins surround blueberry acidity and make this long-strided, complex wine deliver a delicious winning finish. Exacta pairing would be with BBQ or any protein!
Showing off inky color, this Syrah wine begins with aromatics of black tea, baking spices, black cherry compote and milk chocolate. Lighter flavors of black tea, blackberry cobbler and black cherry lead to a mineral driven finish. Drink 2017-2023.
